The '69 hull is about 4" deeper which makes it a better deep-water boat than the '68. - less pounding, as it slices through the waves easier, and less spray over the front, as it rides higher. On the other hand, the '68 is a better turner - more like a sports car. The '69 can be turned too sharply and the prop will cavitate as it comes out of the water. It is almost impossible to turn the '68 too sharply. Both are fine boats. The '69 may be one or two miles per hour faster at top speed, although there are so many other variables that it's difficult to tell. My brother keeps the '68 on a lift for waterskiing and tubing on his inland lake, and I take the '69 up north for Lake Michigan and Lake Leelanau trips.

I was looking for a 68 because that is what we had when I was a kid. We are on a Lake Martin in Alabama it is a big for an inland lake 44K acres, but it ain't no great lake. :) I now have a 67 and a 69, but not the 68. I went a looked at a 68 yesterday at a boat junkyard, but the guy wanted $1500 and it was full of water(like 1/2 full of water) and missing a lot of parts. So no dice on that. I am on my way up to a great '69 in NC that the guy cut the motor out of for scrap too bad it looked to be a great boat that just needed a little TLC. I am picking up the fuel tank (gonna dual tank the '69 and move the battery to the front), top hoop, switch panel and instruments as well as the ever elusive glass for the nav light.

I am thinking of doing the '67 after I finish the '69 as a 383 stroker keep the '69 all stock and kind of make a James Bond type boat Thunder Ball boat with a kick!
That is the plan anyway I have never done a full on resto of a car or boat before, but I have some skills.
