Nothing special here, just a routine distributor clamp. Have you cleaned the bilge yet? You may find all sorts of treasures.

The bilge was surprising clean, or should i say, it fell in line with how clean this boat came to me. Every thing was just so nice from day one.

How does the distributor clamp work? i can see any way to tighten it down....

What Jim is trying to say is - the distributor clamp may well be in the bilge. If it's not obvious it's missing. It't a clamp that squeezes around the base of the distrubitor and is tightened by means of a pinch bolt - usually.

On mine it's on the port side of the distributor - down right on the block. It's a steel tab with a 1/2 or 9/16ths bolt head. The bolt tightens the tab to the block which retains the distributor. I've clumsily circled the tab and bolt in this photo

The best way I found - 1/4 inch straight tube and bubbler hose. I got mine at Pet Smart in the fish department. Put straight tube into dip stick hole attach bubbler hose and suck hose until oil starts to drain out. It will drip only and may take a day to drain - but it gets all 5 quarts out. Where a drill pump - if you can get one to work - will only get out about four quarts or so. Good luck.

Interesting, thanks!

I did end up finding that the distributor clamp is still there, just nearly invisible and im told i need a sort of "crows foot" tool to get at it, much like an o2 sensor socket, i definitely cant get a regular socket or wrench to work
